Scott's un-birthday

Scott and I just got back from Chili's to celebrate his birthday, and we both ate almost a whole day's worth of food. I am so stuffed that I can barely lean forward over my stomach to type this post. :) It was amazingly good though - just a good thing that we don't eat out very often. We even topped the meal off with a molten chocolate cake - scrumptious.

Scott's birthday is technically tomorrow but I leave for class at 7:30 am and he doesn't get back from class until 9:30 pm - and we don't see each other at all during the day. So we went out for dinner tonight but we are going to have cake and have him open presents tomorrow after class.

On a side note, I get to do something very exciting on Scott's birthday. Governor Sebelius is coming to the Georgetown Law campus for a climate change meeting and I am her hostess (or something like that, I'm her contact who is going to show her where she is going on campus).

Scott's encounters with Marilyn Monroe

So as far as these go, I'm not sure if I should be jealous, disgusted, or just amused....

Scott assures me that she really had underware on under her dress on this statute....I guess that the artist must have known this would happen.

The first one was a joke - but after that we decided (we being Scott and Andrea) that he should do it with every one we saw...this one is made out of Jelly Bellies.

This one's skirt wasn' up - so they (Scott and Andrea) found him an umbrella and took the picture as fast as they could because they were afraid of getting kicked out of the store...

Scott and Andrea are definately related (they really are...siblings) if left alone without chaperones (Dave and I) I just wonder how much trouble they could/would have gotten into....lol.

Amazing hats we found in LA

Scott and I found a couple of awesome hats while we were in LA. There were actually several more of them but these made their way onto film.

Trip to LA

Scott and I had a long weekend due to President's Day - so we decided to make it a little bit longer (we didn't miss that many classes) and head out to LA to see Scott's sister. We had been talking about going to LA since we got married, so when we found $219 roundtrip, non-stop flights we new the time was right.

After a lovely 6 hour flight we made it to LAX, Andrea (Scott's sister) picked us up in her bright blue bug.

Later that day she took us by the iCarly studio. Its a Nickelodeon show that she works on. She mainly works behind the scenes but she has had a couple of roles, which makes her a TV star in my book.

Scott and I got to get on the set. It was pretty cool, even though they weren't filming that day. I bet there are a lot of preteens that would be really jealous!
We then went down to where there are stars on the sidewalks and all sorts of people dressed up as characters from movies (some costumes were pretty awesome...others were not). We also stopped by the Kodak theater where they are about to do the Oscars.

And of course, who could pass up the Hollywood shot. Scott isn't really that much taller then me of course - but he was pouting after the first picture of this was taken because I looked taller...this made it all better. What a good wife I am - almost getting run over twice, just to uphold my hubby's ego... lol.

The weather in LA wasn't the best while we were there, but we made the most of it. Andrea and Dave (her boyfriend) had a marbles board, which is a lot of good wholesome fun.

We also pretended like it was Scott's birthday wile we were out there. Andrea got him a Pourch Pie - a hot and fresh chocolate pie delivered right to your door. It was great, this is us singing Happy Birthday to him.

The weather was nice one day and we made it down to the beach where I found the coolest sunglasses ever.

Its kinda pretty down there - I think this trip made Scott want to move out to CA more than ever.

There was a juggler on the beach who was pretty good - these are his razor sharp knives....I don't really think they were that sharp but oh well.

These are made out of nuts and bolts, etc. They really looked like the movie characters. Scott really wanted to bring home a big one of an Alien attacking a Preditor - but they were expensive and it would have been very hard to carry onto a plane.

Maybe the most awesome place that we went was call the Magic Castle. It is a members only club - Andrea is lucky enough to have a friend that is a member, so we all got to go. No pictures were allowed inside, but I got to be an assistant for one of the big shows. We also got to see several other magicians, including Andrea's friend.

One day we went for a ride up in the hills - it was really pretty. I don't think that I would want to live in a lot of those houses though because of the risk of a mud slide.

Then the last day came all too soon - its amazing how fast 6 days goes by.

Jamaica - Swimming with crocodiles

I never got around to posting more about our Jamaica trip - so I figured that as I have time throughout the coming months that I would do periodic Jamaican themed post.

While we were in Jamaica Scott and I visited the black river, home of the Jamaican crocodile. We actually ended up having the entire tour to ourselves and our tour guide was amazing. We were worried that we wouldn't get to see a crocodile, but we got lucky an saw about 6.
We were lucky, we saw our first crocodile within 3 minutes of going down the river.
The Black River is so named because of the peat at the bottom. The water is actually crystal clear, but reflects the peat.

These trees were pretty amazing - their branches drop these "roots" - they just barely reach the water and are hollow. They use them to suck up the water and get nutrients.
So after seeing several crocodiles we did what any normal person would do - we went swimming.

This is Scott and our tour guide - can you tell which is which.... my husband is the one that sun burns really really easily...

The guides are amazing at spotting crocodiles - they spotted this guy from a ways off...Scott had to get him in the view finder of the camera to show me where he was before I could ever spot him.

It was a good part of the trip - lots of fun and good stories...just so you know we made the guide jump in first and we didn't see any crocodiles while we were actually in the water.

New Couch

Scott and I decided that it was finally time for a grown-up couch, and I believe that after 6.5 years of non-stop use, that I got my money's worth out of the old futon. We also rearranged the apartment - it seems much more open now that we don't have a desk in front of some of the windows.
The couch is a sleeper sofa and its actually really comfortable - so if anyone wants to come and visit we have extra places to sleep.

Wii

We got our Wii in the mail yesterday so we set it up and played on the Wii fit a bit before going to bed. Its a lot of fun and I can't wait until tonight when I get to use it some more. We also splurged and got a couple of games which are still in the mail - its so weird, I've never really been into gaming systems before but I think I'm really going to like this one.
