A Weekend of Packing

Scott is back in KS for a wedding, so I decided to use all of my free time to start packing up our apartment. I think that I have about 25 boxes full and it doesn't even seem like half of our stuff is put away. Its amazing how stuff accumulates, even in just 2 years. Most of the rest of the things we have will have to wait until the move gets closer before they can be put away. Two weeks is a long time to be without kitchen stuff or clothing. Although I could pack away a fair bit of my clothing because it doesn't fit anymore. Its odd trying to decide how to pack clothes that I can't currently wear but I might need after the kiddo is born but before we move again at Christmas. I am really going to like living in the big house, but I'm kinda just ready to be done moving and settled into our final destination for a while (which won't happen for another 6 months). Oh well, it will be nice to save all of that rent money. However, I have a feeling that a lot of it will be going to new bills (I hear that having kiddos is expensive:)

Finally Asked If I Was Pregnant!

So it happened, finally! I actually got asked if I was pregnant. So it wasn't like a complete stranger or anything so I guess it isn't that obvious yet. Joan is a lady that I work with and I ran into her in the hallway on Monday as I was leaving. She was like...can I be nosey? And I knew what she was going to ask (actually I was surprised she didn't already know...I think that everyone else in the shop does...) Anyways she asked if I was expecting, and I told her yes in October. Then I was telling her that just that morning I was wondering if I was getting big enough for it to be obvious yet. And she said "well that is a form fitting shirt, and you were holding your stomach like it was dear to you"

Scott loves that last part - holding it like it is dear to me. So now whenever he catches me with my hand on my tummy he has to commit about it being dear. :)

Week 19

Normally I do a couple of weeks together but I figured that since we did the ultrasound this week it would be good to show the belly pictures too.

Deakin

Thursday June 11 we got our 2nd ultrasound and its a BOY! The day started out very stressful with over booking of the ultrasound lady and demands that we move our appointment but it finally all got work out. It was a good thing that we wanted to know the sex of the kiddo because we would have found out one way or the other unless we had had our eyes closed when she put the wand-thingy on my tummy - a crotch shot was the first view that came up and there was no doubt about it...definitely a boy.

The pictures that they chose to give us were not the ones I would have picked....the first one I put on here is really the only good one.

The 4-D part of the ultrasound was great while we were there but don't really make for good pictures (4-D = 3-D + movement). This picture shows Deakin sucking his wrist...that's right not his thumb...he had his entire hand inside of his mouth. He has his other hand on his forehead and is snuggled up next to the placenta, it was like he was using it as a pillow.

Its amazing all the things that they can see with the ultrasound. We saw his ribs, his blood flow, and even the inside of his brain. I'm glad that Scott remembered to bring along the camera so that we got some more pictures then just the ones they gave us (he originally forgot the camera and then ran home to get it...and I do mean ran...but then had to wait 18 minutes on the metro....silly public transportation).

This was supposed to be a picture of his boy parts but its a bit fuzzy.

This I believe is a picture of his leg bone. Here is the spinal column.

Here is the mug shot, you can really tell in this picture that my tummy is much bigger then the last time we had an ultrasound.

Countdown Till the Move

Scott and I will be moving to a new location over the 4th of July weekend. We are going to be house sitting for one of Scott's professors - which is great because that means we don't have to pay rent for 6 months. Its going to end up saving us about 10k - definitely worth the hassle of moving twice in a short period. Works really well for me, I'm preggo for this move ....can't carry boxes...bummer... and for the next move I think that Scott is going to come back out to DC first and get us moved into our new place while the kiddo and I stay at mom's house for an extra week or so. We figured that might be easier, and this way we get to spend more time with his family while he is in KS. My school just happens to start a week later then normal or it wouldn't have worked out so well. Me starting late also means that Scott and I won't be graduating the same weekend - which is great, I was afraid that we were going to have to miss each others ceremonies.
So anyways about 3 weeks until we move. I've packed 3 boxes so far...I really don't want to put everything off until the last minute but at the same time its hard to pack up too early because I don't want to have to get into the boxes again after they are full...guess I will just have to be selective about what I pack for a couple of weeks.

Ultrasound Tomorrow

In less then 24 hours we will know the sex of the kiddo. I always thought that I wouldn't want to find out, that it would be more fun to wait. But as the time gets closer and closer I am more and more excited - I actually can't imagine going in for the ultrasound and then telling them that I didn't want to know.

Scott and I have differing opinions on what we think it will be. I believe that it will be a boy, but Scott is convinced that he is going to have female children and so it has to be a girl. I guess that we will find out soon. We have been taking a pool on Facebook and so far our friends are pretty evenly split between girl and boy. Its going to be really funny when the kiddo ends up being shy and we still don't find out. :)

Weeks 17 & 18

So I'm finally starting to wear maternity clothes - neither of the ones in this picture are, but week 18 is definitely maternity. The bella-band has been a lifesaver, I can still wear most of my dress pants and khakis to my internship.
