Baby's first K-State clothes

Our awesome friends the Katers, sent us these in the mail yesterday. They are awesome - we are officially ready to have this kiddo now - couldn't do it without the K-State apparel. :) (although we still have to wait a while...bummer....)

First Ultrasound

We just got back from our first ultrasound. The doctor and the technician said that everything looked great. If fetal movement correlates with activity level after the kiddo arrives we might be in for it - this kid was rolling over and over and throwing it hands up and kicking its feet - Scott says that it looks like it was a drummer - just non-stop movement the whole time...its amazing that they could get accurate measurements.

Here is the proud dad! I think Scott is possibly even more excited then I am - could be because he isn't the one having to pee every 20 minutes. One thing I do know is, that he is definately the more protective one - he told me that every time we walk by a car that has a bit extra exhaust coming out that he gets nervous...its really cute!
Baby Swain's first picture! You can really see his legs and feet here (no we don't know the sex, but I've decided its a boy...Scott has decided that its a girl...)

This one has his hand up in the back ground - we didn't get a good picture of the fingers...which I thought was one of the coolest parts...I knew that he should have them by now, but it was amazing how defined they were.

Weeks 11 & 12

Here are the photos for weeks 11 and 12. As you can see there is definitely starting to be a bump...it seems to have shown up in about the last 4 days ish. I started noticing it over the weekend and by Tuesday it was all Scott could talk about. :)

Baby Quilt

Just 6 short weeks ago, I told my mom that she was going to be a grandma. Since then she has been really busy and here are pictures of her work! She made our kiddo a handmade, hand-quilted baby blanket and it is awesome. I love the colors and I love the little froggy and dragon flies. My mom is just a pretty amazing person.

Captain Crunch

So last night I had my first real pregnancy craving - Captain Crunch - I think that it was because I saw Turk eating it on Scrubs (rerun of the tv show) and couldn't stop thinking about it. However, Scott wouldn't go get it for me....something about not being able to get a parking spot when he got back and not wanting to move the car in the morning...it was very sad. But then this morning...I wasn't feeling well so I asked him to bring me breakfast in bed...and he was gone for a somewhat long time....and then he came in with a bowl of Captain Crunch. (which is awesome because I had been laying in bed thinking about going to the store in the afternoon to get some) He had ran all the way over to the little store in the other side of our building and then ran all the way back so that I wouldn't know what he was doing. He told me that people were looking at him strange as he ran through the hallway with the box of cereal...lol. So as it turns out I might have the most wonderful husband in the whole world. :)

Planet Earth Board Books

Ok so I might be a bit too into getting baby stuff - but I just couldn't pass these up. I found Planet Earth board books at Costco. They have amazing animal photos in them and since they are board books small children can't do to much damage to them. I was so excited that I just had to get them, I knew if I didn't Costco would never carry them again. And if nothing else...Kiko was fascinated...

Gifts from Grandma Kathy

Now Baby Swain has gifts from both grandmas! :) Grandma Kathy sent this adorable 7-piece set to us. Now the baby has a beanie that it can wear to match its daddy.

Weeks 9 &10

Here are the photos from weeks 9 and 10 - still no bump really. I've gained about a pound and all of my clothes are still fitting fine - I wish that I had the baby bump already so that it would seem more real...but I guess that will happen soon enough and then I'll be wishing that I was smaller :)

Katie's DC Trip

My friend Katie Morris came out a couple of weekends ago for DC's cherry blossom festival. We had a lot of good fun...and then I spent all day Sunday sleeping to recuperate.

On Friday we went out to Georgetown - Scott and I had never seen the main campus and we had all heard tales of the delicious Georgetown Cupcake store. It was interesting waiting in line because that store is right next to a phili cheese steak sub place - and the aromas were mixing...

The cupcakes were a bit on the pricey side but they were so pretty and so tasty! We carried them home and it was really windy so a little bit of the frosting got messed up - but it didn't seem to affect the taste one bit.
DC at cherry blossom time is beautiful (although overrun with tourist who don't know how to use the metro and get in the way). This is the view we had as we were walking around to the Jefferson Memorial.

Pretty blossoms and awesome people - what more do you need...besides cupcakes which we also had!

Scott's Strawberry

We were eating strawberries the other day and Scott pulled this one out of the package - its like 4 strawberries in one...and apparently it was very tasty...I wouldn't know...he didn't let me have any of it....

K-State Quilt

Mom and I have been talking a lot about the baby quilt that she is making, and it came to me that I never put up pictures of the K-State quilt. Its really awesome - so I thought I would show it off. It even comes with a matching pillow! Completely hand-quilted...she must really like me!

Crib and Bedding

Scott and I have already picked out our crib and bedding for the kiddo's room. (Actually I had it picked out months before we found out we were actually preggo - but that's another story.) The Internet didn't cooperate and give me just one picture with both the right crib and bedding - so you will just have to imagine them together.

Here is the crib. Its one of those 4-in-1 convertible cribs. It starts as a crib and then switches to a toddler bed or a day bed, and then into a full sized head and foot board. What is really great is that it is a nice quality and should match the dresser I am currently using - so it will make a great spare room set after the kids are done with it.

This design is called "papaguyo." Its really cute and unisex. I love all of the little animals on it and Scott loves that there isn't much white one it - he is very anti white...which I suppose is a good thing. We are probably only going to get the actual bedding part - it seems silly to get a lot of the other stuff.

Scott's Job Offer

Scott interviewed at a pace called iJet yesterday. Its a consulting firm located in Annapolis, MD. After about 20 minutes into the interview - they told him that he was their top choice and wanted to hire him. He's waiting to hear back from a couple of other places - but iJet is sounding like a good deal. They said that they tend to hire their interns, and while their salary is a little lower then what he was hoping for with a full time job - they do let their consultants work from home, which could save us bunches in child care cost. Additionally, if we moved outside of the city (closer to Annapolis) we might actually be able to afford a house! So good news all around.

Nursery Decorations

Scott and I are lucky enough to have a very artistic person in our family. Scott's sister Andrea is amazing! Not only is she a painter (see below) but a writer, an actress, a dancer, and many many other things. She has been awesome enough to agree to do a series of paintings for our nursery. She created this character named Milton, who draws himself and then draws the world around him. Along with the ones below she is in the process of creating more Miltons, after she finishes them I will also add them to the blog. Its going to be a hard decision deciding which ones we want for the nursery, because they are all so good!

The Milton series is just one of the many types of paintings that she has done. If you would like to see more of her work please see http://dreswainart.mosaicglobe.com/ As well as being an awesome Aunt and doing these for our future kiddo she also sells them and other pieces of art. If anyone is interested in commissioning any art work please let me know and I will put you in contact with her.

NC Trip last weekend

So this is a little out of order but I was really excited to write the last couple of post! Last weekend Scott and I made it down to North Carolina for our friend Mike's b-day party - he is getting really old...lol. Not really hes only 26. It was great to get to see Mike and Aubri, I wish that we got to see them a bit more often. Aubri make awesome taco chicken meat and we all have huge plates of nachos - yummy!!!
Here Mike is being well....Mike.
Here is Aubri and the puppy Molly relaxing - you can see the Guitar hero drums in the back ground - that's right we were all rockstars that night!
Yummy Cake! - and Mike being Mike....
I apparently wanted Scott's cake as well as my own - its just that since I have to share with the baby my piece should have been bigger....yeah that's it...

First Doctors Appointment

Baby Swain (sometimes known as Hector) had his first doctor's appointment today! After waiting forever in the waiting room and then another long time while sitting in a gown we were finally seen by Dr. Bathgate. She seems very nice and very informed. She also had a med student with her so they got to do all the fun test (like a pelvic exam etc.) twice....ok so maybe it wasn't so much fun... and I don't think the med student had ever done it before or really knew what he was doing...uncomfortable - oh well its all over now, and the best part is they said that everything looks good and that my uterus feels just the size that its supposed to. So maybe we will get that Halloween baby yet. Our Dr. said that her little girl has an Oct. 31 b-day and loves it - so I am taking that as a good sign.
Another good note - the Dr. so far approves of our long journey to KS and TX this summer! Woohoo so I'm going to get to see everybody while I am good and huge, which will be lots of good fun. Little bitty bikini here I come....lol
Other then that - our next appointment is May 7th and she assured us we would get to hear the heartbeat then. However before that we are going in for a first trimester screening which involves an ultrasound - so I guess we will get to see Hector very very soon.
